Good news for Republican lobbyists in Texas. Women owned businesses are very succesful in our state. So much for the idea that conservative and pro-women values conflict.
Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas rank among the highest cities for businesses owned by women. Perhaps our pro-business lobbying efforts in this state are paying off in unexpected ways.
Women-owned firms make up roughly 5 percent of annual payrolls.
In September of 2015, our governor addressed the National Association of Women Business Owners and laid out a plan for making Texas tops in this area. Looks like that plan is working.
